Benjamin Schoendorff gives a brief introduction to ACT, including its underpinning by clinical trials, and its wide application in many different fields, including coaching. Here is an extract of what he says, which you can watch in full in the video.

ACT is a major approach. It is underpinned by randomised control trials from all over the world – not just in the western world, but also trials conducted in developing countries, and in countries such as China, Korea, Iran and Turkey. Many countries are adopting ACT because it is transcultural, in contrast to the cognitive, western approach.

There is a good deal of empirical data which shows that ACT is not only helpful for the broad range of psychological and behavioural difficulties, but also enhances performance and engagement at work, in sports, and even for chess players!

So ACT has a really broad application, with a strong evidence base. With this new workshop, we are really excited about bringing ACT into the coaching world, and hopefully into your own coaching practice.
