The Contextual Psychology Institute was born from the dream of Benjamin Schoendorff, a French psychologist who came to Quebec in October 2010.
Benjamin became a psychologist in 2007. Having experienced mental suffering and behavioral difficulties himself, he sought to learn about evidence-based approaches. First, he trained in Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy (CBT), then, from February 2007, in ACT, of which he is one of the pioneers in the French-speaking world. From 2005, Benjamin started dreaming of giving life to a center of clinical excellence that would offer evidence-based therapies, measure their effectiveness, train therapists, mentor interns and provide therapists with an open and supportive community. From 2010 to 2020, he collaborated to put his dream into action with Marie-France Bolduc with whom he had a son. For Benjamin, values are what matters. What is truly important is the ability to move toward what really matters, much more than seeking to avoid inconvenience or discomfort. By seeking meaning before pleasure, Benjamin has built a life of challenges, inspiration, fun, and rich meaning. A life he enjoys nurturing every day.
In 2012 Benjamin founded the Contextual Psychology Institute (incorporated in 2014) and in November 2017, the Contextual Psychology Center was created, in the heart of Old Montreal.
