ACT MATRIX PARTICIPATES IN MENTAL HEALTH AND THE FIGHT AGAINST EBOLA IN SIERRA LEONE

The ACT Matrix contributes to mental health and to the reduction of the spread of Ebola in Sierra Leone. Beate Ebert from Germany and Hannah Bockarie in Sierra Leone used the ACT Matrix to help communities affected by Ebola reduce the spread of the disease. Using the Matrix, people were able to devise ways of honoring their dead that reduced the spread of the virus while honoring their values and cultural traditions. In country benefiting from little mental health infrastructure and personnel, the simplicity of the ACT Matrix allows the growth of a holistic approach to mental and behavioral health built on the existing human resources of the community.
