At ACBS 2016 World Conference in Seattle, Michel Reyes, Nathalia Vargas and Edgar Miranda from Mexico City presented the first study comparing ACT vs Matrix-enhanced ACT for Borderline Personality Disorder. They found that the ACT Matrix significantly enhances the effectiveness of ACT. In a previous study presented in Berlin 2015, they had found that an 18-weeks ACT intervention was as effective as 36 weeks of Dialectical Behavior Therapy-inspired treatment. This suggests that ACT may be effective for one of the reputedly most difficult to treat population and that the Matrix may make ACT even more effective.
